National statistics, one of the important infrastructures of national policies, is both a starting point for making good policies and a significant policy tool for suggesting the direction of future national policies. National Assembly continuously pointed out the necessity to improve the statistics system so as to meet up new demand for statistics in compliance with change in economy, society and environment, and to enhance sharing of administrative information to raise efficiency in statistics-mak-ing.

Therefore, various improvement measures have been taken such as strengthen-ing statistical organization, conducting policy management or quality assessment on statistics, and revising statistical law and national tax law since the year of 2005.

This report is focused on reviewing performances and limits of previous im-provement measures, and suggesting items for improvement.

According to the result, it is necessary to meet demand for regional statistics and to manage new demands in a more systematic manner. It is also needed to en-hance efficiency in statistics-making through effective sharing of administrative information, and to expand comprehensive and electronic survey for meeting the decreasing reply rate of statistical surveys.

In line with above assessments, followings are pointed out: strengthening the expertise in quality assessment, reinforcing the statistical coordination to prevent similar or same statistics, continuously checking up approved statistics, and en-hancing the timing of national statistics DB.
