Casebook on Bill Cost Estimates 2011, the eighth release of this casebook since the establishment of the National Assembly Budget Office, has been published to detail the current status and improvement of bill cost estimates.
In the first part, NABO analyzed statistics in line with the cost estimates of the 17th National Assembly, the 18th National Assembly, and in 2011. Therefore, the current status of cost estimates can easily be figured out. In the second part, there are 17 bill cost estimates of 4 types (compensation, guarantees, organization, and business) that were carried out by NABO in 2011.
In the 17th National Assembly, NABO provided a total of 500 bill cost estimates to National Assembly members. With the increase in cost estimates for bills, NABO replied to inquiries for a total of 1694 bill cost estimates; 383 in 2008, 442 in 2009, 455 in 2010, and 414 in 2011.
The rate of bill cost estimates has increased from 21.7 percent of total bills during the 17th National Assembly to 31.7 percent in 2011. The number of bill cost estimates prepared by NABO has also gradually increased among the total estimates. The rate was 19.6 percent of total bill cost estimates, and has risen to 26.3 percent in 2011.
