Ever since the recent global financial crisis, the resolution of sovereign debt crises and the securing of a stable basis for public finance have gained prominence as pressing economic issues. Accordingly, tax-related legislation in the National Assembly has become a subject of increasing importance. Korea's Tax System at a Glance is a publication which was prepared to support these legislative activities, categorizing Korea's tax system into, and providing detailed descriptions of, its four main tax revenue items: individual income, corporate income, consumption, and property. It also reports tax-related statistics on OECD countries and compares recent tax revisions in these countries from an international perspective.
This book also includes an appendix that summarizes some 90 exemption/reduction sunset clauses due to expire by the end of 2012, in preparation for upcoming tax revisions in the latter half of the year. The appendix also features a detailed glossary of tax-related terminology to aid the reader's general understanding of the tax system.
